His Divine Grace Sri Srila Bhakti Rakshaka Sridhara Deva Goswami Maharaja, the founder of the Sri Chaitanya Saraswat Matha, was born in India in 1895, in a respected Brahmana family of the Bhattacarya order, at Hapaniya, District Burdwan, West Bengal. He received his education at Baharamapur University. Having taken his pious birth in Sri Gauda-Mandal, the holy lands where Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu exhibited His divine pastimes on this earth, Srila Sridhara Maharaja, from his very childhood, had a natural affinity for the mission of Sri Chaitanya Sankirtana, the Grand Congregational Chanting of the Holy Names of the Supreme Lord.
In 1973 Srila Bhakti Raksak Sridhar Dev-Goswami Maharaj and Srila Bhakti Sundar Govinda Dev-Goswami Maharaj were invited by the founder-Acharya of ISKCON, Srila A. C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupad, to attend the opening of the Mayapur Chandradoya Mandir, ISKON's World Headquarters, as the ceremony's honoured guests and presiding dignitaries. Om Some sages ( the four kumaras ) inquired submissively from Lord Brahma: "Who is the supreme and original Personality of Godhead? Whom does death fear? And by knowing him everything else simultaneously becomes known. Who created the material world? Brahma replied to them: "Krishna is the original cause of all causes. Death fears Govinda. By understanding Gopijanavallabha everything becomes known. By pronouncing the word "svaha" the Original Personality of Godhead created the world. They then said: "Who is Krishna? Who is Govinda? Who is Gopijanavallabha? What is Svaha?"

He received his education at Baharamapur University. In 1926, Srila Sridhar Maharaj joined the Sri Gaudiya Math, and became an initiated disciple of its founder, the illustrious Srila Bhakti Siddhanta Saraswati Thakur Goswami Prabhupad (1874-1937). He later accepted the holy order of sannyasa [monkhood] in 1930. On August 12th, 1988, His Divine Grace Srila Bhakti Rakshak Sridhar Dev-Goswami Maharaj departed from this world, to enter into his eternal pastimes. ...the sukrti has connected me with some higher guide (Spiritual Master) and gradually the hypocrisy, the tendency toward self-suicide (disregard for one's soul) that will vanish. The hypocrisy, the kapatata, the self-deception tendency, the hypocrisy, that will vanish. When my sukrti will join my fate with a real guide then all other defects in me will gradually vanish when I am in the process of purification by carrying out his (the Guru's) order. It is possible. And as much as I will be sincere, my words will carry so much value and others will be benefited by my words, and my vibration will work in them. Janma sarthak kari..sadhu sanga, sadhu sanga (saintly association) so it has been requested repeatedly in the shastra (scriptures) the sadhu sanga, select your association, select your guide. The association in general and the guide in particular, that is all important in our life. We are living in an uncertain eternity and to secure a certain position we must strive hard. And the association, and the guide, that can help us most in our campaign. We are lost in the eternity.
