Su Divina Gracia Srila Bhakti Raksaka Sridhara Deva Gosvami Maharaja hizo su gloriosa aparición en 1895, en una familia altamente respetada de la orden de Bhattacarya, en la humilde villa de Hapaniya del Distrito de Burdwan en Bengala Oriental. Recibió su educación en la Universidad de Baharampur. Habiendo tenido un piadoso nacimiento en Sri Gauda-mandala, la sagrada región donde Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu exhibió Sus divinos pasatiempos sobre la Tierra, Srila Sridhara Maharaja desde muy pequeño tuvo una afinidad natural por la misión de Sri Caitanyadeva, el sankirtana, el gran canto congregacional de los Santos Nombres del Supremo Señor.

En 1923 fue atraído por la gracia de Sri Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Gosvami a través de escuchar sus santas pláticas en Calcuta. Poco después, en 1926, él se juntó con plena rendición al Sri Gaudiya Math y se volvió un discípulo iniciado de su fundador, Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Prabhupada. Más adelante, él aceptó la orden de sannyasa (renuncia) en 1930. Reconociéndolo como un fiel estandarte de la prédica de los preceptos del gaudiya-vaisnavismo, Srila Prabhupada le confió el nombre de `Sri Bhakti Raksaka' que significa `El guardián de la devoción' y además, haciendo eco de la declaración del gran preceptor vaisnava Srila Jiva Gosvami (quien se refirió en sus escritos sánscritos al renombrado comentarista del Srimad-Bhagavatam, Sri Sridhara Svamipada, como bhakti-eka-raksaka, `Supremo Guardián de la Devoción'), Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Prabhupada le dio el título de tridanda sannyasa de `Sridhara'. De aquí que él se convirtió en Srimad Bhakti Raksaka Sridhara Maharaja.

Como un prominente predicador en la misión de la Gaudiya Math, él viajó extensivamente a través de India y predicó con fluidez en bengalí, hindi, sánscrito e inglés, esparciendo las enseñanzas de Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu masivamente en universidades, seminarios públicos y festivales de sankirtana.

Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati expresó también su aprecio por la composición en sánscrito de Srila Sridhara Maharaja `Sri Bhaktivinoda-viraha-dasakam', considerándola como un anuncio que aseguraba que los grandes ideales y la dignidad de la divina sucesión de la Sri Gaudiya (sampradaya) serían correctamente sustentados y predicados por tan ilustre y sensible devoto como Srila Sridhara Maharaja. Y de hecho, como un testimonio de esto, justo antes de su partida de este mundo mortal, Srila Prabhupada le pidió que cantara en su presencia la sagrada plegaria Sri Rupa-mañjari-pada, la cual es la más venerada por la comunidad Gaudiya-vaisnava.

Un tiempo después de la desaparición de su divino Maestro y aunque Srila Sridhara Maharaja era más inclinado al anonimato como un humilde vaisnava, por el llamado del deber y la inspiración divina, él estableció el Sri Caitanya Sarasvat Math en Sri Navadvipa-dhama, como un santuario donde el santo mensaje de su Gurudeva, Sri Rupa y Sri Caitanyadeva fuese predicado.

Srila Sridhara Maharaja compuso numerosas plegarias y comentarios en sánscrito y bengalí. Sus palabras son aclamadas como joyas del vaisnavismo puro por eruditos, filósofos y devotos de todo el mundo. Es el autor del Sri Sri Prapanna-jivanamrtam, un tratado devocional en sánscrito sobre el tema de la divina rendición, el cual se ha vuelto como un libro de texto para devotos de todo el mundo.

En sus últimos años, no sólo hindúes, sino algunos cientos de discípulos del más grande predicador mundial, Srila A.C. Bhaktivedanta Svami Prabhupada, acudieron a Sri Navadvipa-dhama para escuchar las santas conversaciones y los consejos de Srila Sridhara Maharaja. La aceptación sincera de su divina dádiva y de aquellas palabras trascendentales por los devotos genuinos es irrevocable, no sólo por la aceptación que el mismo Srila Bhaktivedanta Svami Prabhupada hiciera de él como su siksa-guru, sino por la fuerza de su propio mérito espiritual. De ahí que un gran número de buscadores sinceros de todas partes del mundo acudieron también a los pies de loto de Srila Sridhara Maharaja para volverse discípulos rendidos del guardián de la devoción.

El 12 de agosto de 1988, Su Divina Gracia Srila Bhakti Raksaka Sridhara Deva Gosvami Maharaja abandonó este mundo para entrar en los pasatiempos eternos. Su desaparición no sólo anunció la partida de una de las grandes figuras del firmamento de la Sri Gaudiya, sino de la luna misma. Incluso la tierra misma tembló en dos ocasiones, prediciendo y señalando el evento. Un divino templo, llamado "El Templo de la unión en separación", fue erigido en su sagrado sepulcro en el Sri Caitanya Sarasvat Math, Navadvipa, y es y será adorado continuamente por generaciones.

His Divine Grace Sri Srila Bhakti Rakshaka Sridhara Deva Goswami Maharaja, the founder of the Sri Chaitanya Saraswat Matha, was born in India in 1895, in a respected Brahmana family of the Bhattacarya order, at Hapaniya, District Burdwan, West Bengal. He received his education at Baharamapur University. Having taken his pious birth in Sri Gauda-Mandal, the holy lands where Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu exhibited His divine pastimes on this earth, Srila Sridhara Maharaja, from his very childhood, had a natural affinity for the mission of Sri Chaitanya Sankirtana, the Grand Congregational Chanting of the Holy Names of the Supreme Lord.

And by knowing him everything else simultaneously becomes known. Who created the material world? Brahma replied to them: "Krishna is the original cause of all causes. Death fears Govinda. By understanding Gopijanavallabha everything becomes known. By pronouncing the word "svaha" the Original Personality of Godhead created the world. They then said: "Who is Krishna? Who is Govinda? Who is Gopijanavallabha? What is Svaha?"

His Divine Grace Sri Srila Bhakti Rakshak Sridhar Dev-Goswami Maharaj, the founder of the Sri Chaitanya Saraswat Math, was born in India in 1895, in a respected Brahmana family of the Bhattacarya order, at Hapaniya, District Burdwan, West Bengal. In 1926, Srila Sridhar Maharaj joined the Sri Gaudiya Math, and became an initiated disciple of its founder, the illustrious Srila Bhakti Siddhanta Saraswati Thakur Goswami Prabhupad (1874-1937). He later accepted the holy order of sannyasa [monkhood] in 1930. On August 12th, 1988, His Divine Grace Srila Bhakti Rakshak Sridhar Dev-Goswami Maharaj departed from this world, to enter into his eternal pastimes. ...the sukrti has connected me with some higher guide (Spiritual Master) and gradually the hypocrisy, the tendency toward self-suicide (disregard for one's soul) that will vanish. The hypocrisy, the kapatata, the self-deception tendency, the hypocrisy, that will vanish. When my sukrti will join my fate with a real guide then all other defects in me will gradually vanish when I am in the process of purification by carrying out his (the Guru's) order. It is possible. And as much as I will be sincere, my words will carry so much value and others will be benefited by my words, and my vibration will work in them. Janma sarthak kari..sadhu sanga, sadhu sanga (saintly association) so it has been requested repeatedly in the shastra (scriptures) the sadhu sanga, select your association, select your guide. The association in general and the guide in particular, that is all important in our life. We are living in an uncertain eternity and to secure a certain position we must strive hard. And the association, and the guide, that can help us most in our campaign. We are lost in the eternity.
